Proving God

How God Multiplied My Time When I Put Him First

“God is more eager to give than we are to receive.”

Corrie ten Boom

Life can get so busy. Between responsibilities, appointments, ministry, and the unexpected interruptions, I sometimes find myself just squeezing in time with God—when what I really need is to soak in His presence. I do spend time in prayer and study each day, but I’ve recently realized that I was treating that time as a task to check off instead of a sacred meeting with my Savior.

But God is so patient. He gently nudged my heart with a reminder: “Spend the time. Prove Me. Watch what I can do.”

He Promised to Bless When We Seek Him First

I was reminded of a promise I’ve known for years:

“But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.”
— Matthew 6:33 (KJV)

This verse doesn’t say to seek Him when we’re done with everything else—it says first. The Lord was asking me to test His promise again, to put Him first and let Him take care of everything else.

He Said, ‘Prove Me’—And I Did

It reminded me of another Scripture where God boldly invites us to prove Him:

“Bring ye all the tithes into the storehouse, that there may be meat in mine house, and prove me now herewith, saith the Lord of hosts, if I will not open you the windows of heaven, and pour you out a blessing, that there shall not be room enough to receive it.”
— Malachi 3:10 (KJV)

So, I did. I set aside intentional time one morning—time I wasn’t sure I had to spare. But something miraculous happened. I was having such a beautiful time with the Lord that I completely lost track of the clock. When I finally looked, I was amazed to see how little time had passed. Yet, my heart felt so full—like I had been with Him for hours.

That’s when I realized: God had multiplied my time.

God Multiplies What We Give Him

Just as He multiplies finances when we return our tithe, God multiplies our time when we give it to Him first. He’s not limited to human math. He doesn’t just add—He multiplies.

“Now unto him that is able to do exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that worketh in us,”
— Ephesians 3:20 (KJV)

When we surrender our overloaded schedules to Him, He gives us what we didn’t know we needed: clarity, peace, and energy. He stretches the minutes and fills the moments.

He Lifts the Load When We Let Him In

How many times do we try to carry our burdens alone, forgetting Jesus’ invitation?

“Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls.
For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.”

— Matthew 11:28–30 (KJV)

He’s not waiting for us to fix it all and then come. He invites us, in our weariness, to yoke up with Him. And as we do, He walks beside us and lightens every step.

Do We Really Believe?

If we believe He can multiply our time and money…
If we believe He can carry our burdens and strengthen our weakness…
Then why do we struggle to believe that He can
save us fully and completely?

Sometimes we say we believe, but deep down, we're holding back trust. It’s as if we believe in theory—but not in practice.

But here’s the truth:

“Being confident of this very thing, that he which hath begun a good work in you will perform it until the day of Jesus Christ:”
— Philippians 1:6 (KJV)

His Grace is Sufficient—for Everything

Whatever your thorn in the flesh may be—grief, time constraints, financial strain, health struggles—God’s grace is not just barely enough. It is more than enough.

“And he said unto me, My grace is sufficient for thee: for my strength is made perfect in weakness. Most gladly therefore will I rather glory in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me.”
— 2 Corinthians 12:9 (KJV)

He is enough. He is able. And when we invite Him in, He does the work.

🙏 A Prayer of Trust and Surrender

Lord, help me to trust You not only with my finances, but with my time, my struggles, and my very heart.
Remind me daily that You are the God who multiplies—not just loaves and fishes, but every moment I give to You.
Help me to stop striving and start believing—believing that You are enough and that Your grace is truly sufficient for me.
I surrender my clock, my to-do list, and my fears to You today.

In Jesus’ name,

Amen

🛠️ Action Steps to Multiply Your Time with God

  1. Start Your Day with Him
Even if it's just 10 minutes, commit the first part of your day to prayer and Scripture.

  2. Set a Timer if You Need To
Let the timer release you from watching the clock. Focus on being fully present with the Lord.

  3. Write Down What He Reveals
Keep a journal near your Bible. Record what He teaches you—it will serve as a reminder when time gets tight again.

  4. Trust Him With Your Schedule
Lay your to-do list before God and ask Him to help you prioritize what truly matters.

  5. Memorize One Verse
This week, commit to memory 2 Corinthians 12:9. Let His grace carry you through.

  6. Encourage a Friend
Share with someone how God is multiplying your time. It will strengthen both of you.
